For example, an experienced educator in the preschool area should know which activities will help to develop the cognitive and motor skills of the children. At the middle and secondary level, the experienced educator should know how to motivate children towards following the right path. Similarly, a teacher at the university level, in the research department should encourage more of parallel thinking among his students.
- After identifying the learning goals, an experienced educator should take stock of the current situation i.e. he should assess the level of what the students already know.
- After gauging where the students stand, he should build his lesson plans accordingly. He should identify the set of teaching strategies to be employed; whether more practical activities are to be included or the focus must lie on building the concepts first.
- Delivering lectures according to student requirements is the most important part of the learning process.
- Once the lecture is delivered, assessment of the learning outcomes through various tests and examinations needs to be done.
- If the desired outcome is not obtained, he should find new ways to support learning levels, enhance capabilities and should modify learning or teaching styles.
- Ask for suggestions to facilitate improvement and create a pupil’s interests.
- Regular practice sessions with his students to ensure perfection and consistency in the results.
- Identify and address the challenges, if any, faced by the students. He should capitalize their strengths and focus on their weaknesses.
The job of an experienced educator doesn’t end only by imparting theoretical knowledge and completing the academic course. Rather it should be considered as just the beginning.
