Few Materials Used for Paving:

• Concrete
  Concrete is the most common material used for pavement as it is easily available and cheap. Concrete has high workability and does not require professional help for construction of pavements. Concrete pavements have high durability.

• Rubber
  Rubber pavements are one of the best pavements available and provide an aesthetic appearance to the surface. They are made of recycled materials and thus help in preventing environmental degradation. They are not slippery and are comfortable to walk on.

• Bricks
  Bricks, as we all know are a commonly used material for construction. It is easily available and strong in nature. Once constructed it can last for a long time and does not require much care and inspection. It also enhances the appearances of the pavement.

• Permeable Pavement
  In this type of pavements, a grid is laid which is filled with materials like sand and gravel. In this type of pavement, the water easily reaches the beneath soil and thus helps in replenishing the groundwater. These types of pavements can be removed easily and shirted from one place to another without much effort or labor. 
  
  
  Pavements provide a lot of advantages over the normal ground surface. Let us consider a car parked on a ground and it rains heavily and the soil in the area swells up. In this case, it would become very difficult to remove the car from that area. Consider walking on soil along the road after a heavy rainfall, here the need for paved footpaths arises. These are a few examples that depict how important pavements are in everyday life and to what extent they simplify our lives.  Given below are a few advantages of pavements.

• Cost
  Pavements are generally cheap to construct though some materials may be costlier. Materials such as concrete and bricks are cheap and cost-efficient. They are the most cost-efficient option we have when dealing with pavements and similar alternatives.

• Various Color and Designs
  Since there are a number of materials available, the color and design vary to a great extent. Thus a person has the option of choosing the best design. Such a wide variety of colors, shapes and designs are not available elsewhere.

• Maintenance
  Most of the materials used for the purpose of pavements require less maintenance. Most of these are strong and durable and last for a prolonged period of time without showing any signs of damage.
